Woodman’s Head: English Pub in P.Burgos Street, Makati

A very popular spot for Brits in Makati is the Woodman’s Head in P.Burgos Street.

Apple Crumble and Custard or Ice Cream is a nice desert, especially when FREE with the special of the day. Normally 175 pesos but free with the Chicken and Mushroom pie on the day we visited.

I had the Bangers and Mash, which was a decent size with 3 good sausages. This was 350 pesos, the same as the Chicken and Mushroom pie, but with no free desert.

We missed out on the Sunday Roast, but would try it on another Sunday. Roast Beef sounds very nice.

You can sit at the bar and drink, or at the tables against the wall of the pub, and enjoy a decent meal.

The little round tokens they sometimes give with your drinks, are your vouchers for another FREE drink, if you buy during the happy hour, buy one drink get one free.

Car Hire in Manila, Philippines

Most car rental companies in the Philippines seem to prefer to rent the car with a driver, and being a foreigner in the country, I do feel this is a good idea.

The initial reaction is to worry about the cost, but it isn’t really much of a worry, at a price of maybe 500 pesos for the driver for a full day.

A couple of examples of prices, that I received in August 2013, both indicate a cost of 500 pesos for the drivers time, for 10 hours rental. One of them specifically quoted 2,000 pesos for the car and 500 for the driver.

Another interesting one was a monthly car rental rate:

With Driver: P54,000.00
This monthly rate is about 630 pesos per day for the driver.
