I read a review of this shopping mall, and the writer (from the United States) said that the Gaisano employees wages, at the equivalent of US$1.13 an hour, are WAY BELOW POVERTY LEVEL.

US$1.13 an hour is equivalent to 50 pesos per hour, or (at 40 hours per week), 104,000 pesos per year.

In 2012, the Philippines’ poverty line was a per capita income of 16,841 pesos a year.

So in actual fact, a lot higher than the PHILIPPINES poverty level. Lower of course than the US Poverty level.

104,000 is below the Philippines average wage, but these employees are shop assistants etc, and this group are normally below average in all countries.

According to the National Statistics Office, In 2012, Filipino families (average of 4.6 persons per families) had an annual income of 235 thousand pesos, on average.
